Michael Barron-Wike was educated in architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, Collge of Environmental Design. He first gained his insights into sensitive envrionmental design from his professors at that school, two of whom, Lawrence Halprin and Joseph Esherick, conceived the concept for The Sea Ranch, a northern California development nearby where Michael Barron-Wike AIA now lives and has practiced his profession for many years. Evolving the basic concepts taught to him by these industry icons, Michael Barron-Wike has evolved these principles further with his early embracing of the beginnings of the passive solar design movement. His current projects include sustainable, "green-rated" designs with the goal of "Zero Carbon Footprints" energy usage. Passive solar design, and meticulously detailed structures built to withstand the harsh elements of a coastline environment are pivotal points for most of Michael Barron-Wike's work. Only the latest building methods and materials are used to ensure solid, fire-proof, durable, contemporary designs, both outside and inside the structures. His designs are award-winning and have been published in both local, national, and international periodicals.
